Emmanuel Katto (Emka)’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of vulnerable children, exemplified through the transformative partnership with Sanyu Babies Home, showcases his deep empathy and sense of responsibility. For Emmanuel Katto, this partnership is a personal journey entwined with family history, rather than just a humanitarian endeavor. Since the late Mr. Thomas Katto (his father) was a pioneer of the first privately owned FM radio station in East and Central Africa, known as Radio Sanyu, the word Sanyu has significant meaning for them. This foundation is a part of their lineage.

Sanyu Babies Home lists the installation of an institutional solar power generating and electric system as one of its top priorities. The goals of this energy efficiency project are to guarantee a long-term solution for the household’s daily electrical appliance demands. Mr. Katto’s profound connection to the cause goes beyond charity, as he seamlessly intertwines family legacy with philanthropy. The Emka Foundation encourages everyone to contribute, emphasizing that every donation, regardless of size, holds immense value. Sanyu Babies Home is asking for help from the community to close the remaining fund deficit.
The entire system costs USD USD 98,563.81, with a generous grant of USD 49,282 secured from SNV Netherlands Development Organization. To bridge the remaining financial gap, Sanyu Babies Home is reaching out to the community for support. “We are incredibly grateful for the partnership with the Emmanuel Katto’s Emka Foundation” says, the director of Sanyu Babies Home. Their support will be instrumental in helping us provide a sustainable and nurturing environment for the children in our care. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
